How to fit and adjust a
straight corner base unit

How to fit a straight corner base unit

When you purchase from us a straight corner base unit, This will normally arrive with the unit itself, a centre post, a blanking panel, the door, and two 150mm pieces to make the corner post from. Using all these parts allows the most precise fitment in the kitchen allowing the best finish. Following this will allow a great fitment but if you are not confident we would always recommend employing a kitchen fitter to fit your kitchen. Method

  1. Firstly we need to fix the centre post, Measure from the edge of your unit where the door will close against and make a mark for the door width. For example a 596mm wide door will be marked at 600mm. This line will be the centre point for your centre post.
  2. Fix the centre post in place using 4 * 3.5 x 30mm screws. Remember to pre drill all screws with a 2mm drill bit before screwing in.
  3. now we can hang our door as normal. Use rubber buffers on the inside of the door on the outside edge of the door. This spaces the door from the unit the correct amount.
  4. Place 4 buffers on the inside of one of the 150mm corner post pieces
  5. Using L-Brackets and 3.5 x 16mm screws secure the corner post piece to the unit, Allow a 4mm gap between the door and the corner post.
  6. Measure and cut the provided blanking panel to the correct width to fill the space left after the corner post.
  7. Secure the blanking panel into the top and bottom panels of the main unit using 3.5 x 30mm screws.
  8. Fit all remaining units correctly so we can get our final width and placement for the corner unit.
  9. Now using the remainder of the blanking panel we can cut a filler at the distance between the corner post flat piece and the adjacent unit.
  10. Secure this piece through the adjacent unit using 3 * 3.5 x 30mm screws this will be flush with the adjacent base unit so when we put the corner post in front it is flush with the doors.
  11. Now we can cut the distance of our other corner post piece
  12. Put 4 rubber buffers on the back of this piece to allow the correct gap between door and panel.
  13. Screw this in place through the back of the previous filler panel we previously fixed using 3.5 x 30mm screws.

Tips

  • This method allows us to have great adjustment over both lengths of the unit at either end of the corner unit.
  • Make sure to pre-drill all holes with a 2mm drill bit
  • We would recommend if able to make fillers in the room even, So if you are able instead of having a 30mm filler at one side of the room and 70mm corner post. Space all unit to have a 50mm corner post and a 50mm filler to the wall.
